Agora Journal of Urban Planning and Design: Call for Submissions

The Agora Journal of Urban Planning and Design, a scholarly journal run by urban planning students at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College, is now accepting submissions for the 11th volume, to be published in the spring of 2017. All University of Michigan students are invited to submit. The deadline for submissions is January 6th, 2017.

The Journal welcomes investigations into topics including but not limited to urbanism, design, planning practice, and policy evaluation through a wide variety of perspectives and media. They also encourage original research such as GIS analysis, photojournalism, and design work, all accompanied by text explanations of the work’s impact on planning ideas.

In addition to general submissions, Agora is also seeking responses to the question, “How can cities respond to the infrastructure crisis?“, for the annual Symposium.

IPD Winter Academy 17-26 February, 2017, Switzerland, Call for Participants

Institute for Peace and Dialogue invite you to join the next 10 Days International Winter Academy and 3 Month CAS-Research Program which will be held in Switzerland. Participant will receive Invoice to start the payment of the requested participation fee amount
After receiving the participation fee, participant will receive the unconditional letter via email and if there is required visa application process IPD will send invitation letter by post and also to the relevant embassy by email or fax.
We strongly advice to the participants to submit the filled application as soon as it`s possible, who needs visa to enter Switzerland and who needs more financial documentation in the work place for his/her participation.

Scholarship: IPD offer several type of scholarship support to reduce the participation fee amount for most needed potential participants from all over the world counties. If you wish to get discounted participation fee amount, please write your request briefly via email before or during the application submission period. Unfortunately IPD scholarship sources do not cover all the participation fee amount and international travel expenses and we only could offer you discounted fee amount.

CAUSE Leadership Academy 2017 Applications Now Open

CAUSE (Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan, community-based organization with a mission to advance the political empowerment of the Asian Pacific American community through voter registration and education, community outreach, and leadership development.

We are looking for students to apply for the summer internship program called CAUSE Leadership Academy (CLA) . The CAUSE Leadership Academy (CLA) was founded in 1991 in order to develop a pipeline of leadership for the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. CLA teaches students the importance of civic engagement and political participation as it prepares its participants to be leaders at the forefront of the democratic process. ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The CAUSE Leadership Academy (CLA), which was formerly the California Asian American Student Internship Coalition (CASIC), was founded in 1991 in order to develop a pipeline of leadership for the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. Despite APAs being the fastest growing community in the United States, representation and leadership has not kept pace with the growing and changing demographics.

Duration: June 19, 2017 – August 18, 2017 (9 weeks)

Time Commitment:  Must be able to commit full time for 40 hours per week. Additional hours to work on a group project will also be required. The number of additional hours will depend on collaborative group efforts.

Stipend: A stipend of $1,500 will be provided upon satisfactory completion of the program and will serve as reimbursement for expenses accrued throughout the program’s duration.

Housing: Accepted interns are required to secure their own housing in Southern California for the duration of their internship. Interns are highly encouraged to seek housing opportunities together.

THE SELECTION PROCESS:

  • All applications will be reviewed and top candidates will be asked to participate in a personal interview with the CAUSE Leadership Academy Interview Committee.

  • Applicants should plan in advance and leave their schedules open for those two days.
