The academic programme “Summer University Prague 2016″ will be taking place at Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic) during September 2016 (September 10 – 25). Its topic is “Reconfiguring Europe: an Old Continent in a New Millennium”. This study programme is internationally acknowledged and recognized, successful participants will be given 12 ECTS credits.

The application for the 2017 Class of Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans just launched, and top students from the University of Michigan are encouraged to apply. The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships are open to immigrants and the children of immigrants who are 30 or younger and entering or are in their first two years of graduate school as of the November 1, 2016 deadline. Fellows receive up to $90,000 over two years in support of their education: $40,000 in tuition support and $50,000 in stipend support. More importantly, they join a lifelong community of New Americans who are making significant contributions to society.
Individuals who are poised to make significant contributions to US society, culture, or their academic field are the ideal candidates.

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

Educatius International is currently working with a group of 57 high school Japanese students who were hand selected by the Tokyo Board of Education and the Japanese government for a leadership program. They have been in the U.S since August and have been attending schools throughout Michigan.
Educatius International is organizing a farewell camp for them when the school year is over at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor from June 23-27, 2016. The theme this year is all about global leadership. The goal is for the students to understand global citizenship and what it takes to be a leader.
The hope is to have to have local business owners, professors and students come lecture to the students from the 24th to the 26th from 9-5 with a break for lunch every day. Ideally, each speaker would talk for an hour and engage the students in discussion afterwards. The speakers can talk about anything relating to global leadership, global citizenship or globalization. The Tokyo Board of Education wants the students to go back to Japan with the knowledge of what he or she as an individual can do to help be part of a positive change for Japan after their experience in the US.
The key takeaway should be for the students to understand the skills it takes to be a leader within the international context, as well as how they can acquire and develop these skills and the steps they need to take as high school students to develop themselves as leaders here and now.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Young Democrats of Michigan is looking for people who work hard, communicate well and are committed to progressive causes. Hours are flexible. They require a minimum of 10 to 20 hours per week, though preference will be given to those able to work more.
They are currently hiring for two positions: Campus Organizer and Neighborhood Organizer.
The core of the job is outreach on either college campuses or going door-to-door to talk to as many people as possible. You will be asking people to sign a petition and talking about the importance of progressive causes and campaigns.
PAY: The average hourly wage is $9 to $12/hour.
