Fellow Opportunities for Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s Summer of Defiance

Planned Parenthood Generation Action, a project of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, in partnership with Change Corps are proud to launch the Summer of Defiance.

In the last six months, we have seen young people across the nation stand up and speak out.​ As ​young people of color,​ ​we​ know what’s at stake, and we are not going to let our country go backwards — not now, not ever. As the onslaught of attacks on reproductive health continue, it is more important than ever to amplify and strengthen the collective voices of people of color and  LGBTQ+ to ensure reproductive justice. This summer will lay a critical foundation for national and local advocacy efforts. Planned Parenthood Generation Action’s Summer of Defiance fellows will gain crucial experience in the political and nonprofit fields and receive extensive training experienced organizers. You’ll learn and use grassroots organizing skills that create a movement for real social change with hands-on experience in community outreach and education; volunteer recruitment, management and training; event management; story collection; voter registration; and data management.

Past fellows have used these skills to work for political campaigns and well-respected, progressive nonprofit organizations across the state and country.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong commitment to racial and social justice

  • The desire to become a leader in your community

  • Readiness to work hard and get your hands dirty

  • Can solve problems and come up with creative solutions

  • Ambitious and goal-oriented

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have a sense of humor

LOCATIONS
This is a paid, full-time, four-week fellowship hiring in AK, IA, IN, KY, MI, MT, NJ, TX, and WA.

SALARY

Hourly Rate, $15.00 per hour

HOURS

  • 40-hour work week

  • Daily hours vary

  • Maintain evening and  weekend availability
