Eager to design ideas focused on how Europe can take advantage of the benefits of the digital market? Ready to create new strategies by which Europe can successfully respond to emerging new technologies, Industry 4.0, and challenges surrounding data protection? Interested in traveling to Bruges, Belgium, and engaging with students and experts from across America and Europe?
Apply to participate in European Horizons’ Youth Summit on the Transatlantic Digital Economy (DEYS)! DEYS will take place over the course of three days from the 20th to the 22nd of November 2016 at the Collège d’Europe in Bruges, Belgium. The Summit will be featured as part of a longer trip, beginning Wednesday, 16 November 2016, which European Horizons is organizing.
The Summit will convene with European officials in Brussels and will present European Horizons’ research to the European Parliamentary Research Service. Participants will also travel to Paris to partake in the European Leadership Day at the Jean Monnet House. Applicants selected to attend the Summit will have the option of either attending the entirety of the trip or of only attending the three-day Summit.
The purpose of the Youth Summit on the Transatlantic Digital Economy is to elaborate on a set of policy options that current young leaders deem essential for advancing the transatlantic digital agenda. This vision will be defined by a set of policy options around four main themes:
1. Protecting Transatlantic Data
2. Investing in Emerging New Technologies
3. Shaping a Single Transatlantic Digital Market
4. Creating Jobs in Times of Industry Disruption
European Horizons is seeking out students who have a significant knowledge base in one or more of the above themes. Therefore, we are looking for applicants with either scientific backgrounds, such as engineering or computer science, or sociopolitical and/or economic interests in Europe. European Horizons is working to secure funding to supplement the travel and lodging expenses of every selected student.
The application deadline for participants in the United States is 22 September 2016 at 23:59 EST and 13 October 2016 at 23:59 GMT for those in Europe. If you have any further questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
